The new £9 million bespoke University of Cumbria teaching block opens, using the latest environmental standards.

As part of a bigger estates redevelopment programme for the campus, the new purpose-built learning facility will act as a central hub for all academic and research activities, and student support services. It incorporates a 230-seat lecture theatre, ten teaching rooms, social learning spaces and high-quality teaching accommodation. The environmentally sustainable teaching block has been equipped with class leading LED luminaires designed and manufactured by Hacel offering high efficiency, reduced energy consumption and maintenance alongside long life expectancy. All lighting is fitted with light level controls and occupancy sensors.
